Check out Freeburn! We call him Espresso Bean. Espresso is a 2004 bay gelding standing approximately 15.3h tall. He retired from the track in the fall of 2009 and started retraining not long afterwards. More pictures of Espresso are available here!

FFI is pleased to announce that we are now listed as a Participating Organization with the Thoroughbred Adoption Network. The Thoroughbred Adoption Network is designed to help interested parties adopt an ex-racehorse by allowing them to search for a horse with the attributes they desire. The database features horses from qualified adoption and rescue groups throughout the United States.

You can visit them online at

Sea Dar, aka Darcy, is a 2005 Thoroughbred mare that never raced. She was donated to Friends of Ferdinand in early 2009 with a serious sinus infection. We nursed her back to health and she started work under saddle in the late spring. More pictures and information on Darcy can be found here.

Rocket is a 2005 bay gelding that retired from the track in 2009. He has recovered from a bowed tendon sustained while racing and has been working under saddle since mid-November. More photos and information on Rocket are available here.
