Friends of Ferdinand facility polices are intended to ensure that each FFI horse is provided a safe environment that meets the needs of the each individual horse.
- Shelter: The minimum acceptable shelter is at least 3-sided and large enough to accommodate the number of horses on the site. Ideally the minimum space for each horse is 10’ x 10’ per horse. Shelter should be dry, and clean.
- Fencing: The type of fencing must meet the needs of the individual horse. Barbed wire is not encouraged.
- Pastures: Must be clean, free of debris and safe.
- Overall condition of the facility should provide a safe environment for the horse to live.
- Water should be plentiful and clean. Troughs should be reasonably clean of algae.
- Hay and grain should be of sufficient quality and be properly stored.
- Each Facility (adoption or foster) must pass a facility inspection.
