Meet Erin, Friends of Ferdinand's Adoption Co-ordinator.

In addition to her paying jobs, her boyfriend and her two dogs (she just adopted an ex-racer greyhound), Erin manages the FFI adoption process, from start to finish.  If you are an adopter, or if you have considered adopting, you have probably spoken or emailed with her.  When an application is received, Erin contacts the potential adopter to better understand their interests and needs, discuss the candidate horses, and provide information about the adoption process.

Next, she works with other volunteers to verify information on the application, puts potential adopter in contact with foster homes for more information about the horses, and then sets up a time with the adopter and foster homes for a visit.  It is not unusual that an adopter will come from another state, driving several hours to Indianapolis, and Erin will orchestrate the day so that several hours are available for each horse, sometimes with up to 4 horses in one day.  It is always amazing how she can get it all done with so many people, so many locations, and so many schedules, but she has figured it out.

If a potential adopter finds their horse, not always the one that first caught their eye, Erin will complete the adoption process by providing information and organizing transport to vet checks, if requested, and then finishes up with the paperwork.

Everyone in the FFI organization knows Erin, but not all have met her.  She works through emails and faxes and doesn’t always get to meet her co-volunteers or adopters.  But believe this, Erin is FFI.  First and foremost are the horses and the adopters and making a match that lasts.

Erin works with other volunteers to make these adoptions happen.  If you have a little time and would like to help Erin with this most important job, send us an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
